alife wordpress theme
The aLife theme is minimal, modern, XHTML1.1 based, HTML5 ready, SEO optimized, widget ready and best of all: it is smart in several ways.
The background image (the color bars) change every minute of the day, fading from the brightest colors at 12:00 to the darkest colors at 00:00. Furthermore, several functionalities void the need for plugins by providing: a cleaner wordpress header, a cleaner wordpress body, a smarter texturize filter, a smarter excepts function, a self-pinging prevention function, a smarter comments display, a smarter gallery shortcode handler producing XHTML1.1 valid code and a code compactor to minimize the filesize of each page and post.
This theme was a practical test to see how far Wordpress could be optimised without touching the core code. As it turned out, Wordpress is merely a collection of buggy and unclean code. If you not a coder, that may be fine... but I expect more using less code, so I created my own cms in the end.
50 Gradient System Icons
One day, I decided to take a look what gradients can do for a boring system icon and I ended up creating 50 of them. The icons tend to look nice because of their futuristic, yet conservative look. Both PNG and ICO files are included!
